History: The Sd.Kfz. 252 was a lightly armored ammunition carrier based on the chassis of the Sd.Kfz. 250 half-track. Designed as an ammunition carrier for the Sturmgeschütz III, it was assigned to Sturmartillerie Brigades between 1940 and 1942, with a limited number remaining in service until late 1944. It saw action on both the Eastern and Western fronts of WWII. Its design utilized a modified Sd.Kfz. 250 chassis, itself derived from the Sd.Kfz. 10, with adjustments including an overall shorter length and one fewer running track wheel. While its angular design offered weight reduction and better protection, the complex armor layout proved difficult to manufacture. As a result, production was limited to 413 units between 1940 and 1941, after which it was replaced by the Sd.Kfz. 250/6
