History:

The Messerschmitt BF-109 was considered to be the best fighter aircraft in the world at the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. First entering service in 1937, it featured an all-metal construction, retractable landing gear, and a V-12 engine, all modern developments in aviation at the time. Its fuel-injected engine allowed it to be among the fastest aircraft at the time and gave it superb climbing statistics. Built for performance, it often lacked range for longer missions, leading to shorter time at the target for attacks. It was the backbone of the German air force for the duration of the war and would be continually updated until the end of the war.
