History:

The BT-7 was the last production model of the Soviet BT series of “fast tanks,” derived from the American-designed Christie M1931. Built for speed as a cavalry tank, it could reach 86 kph. It first saw action at Lake Hasan in 1938 and played a key role in the Soviet victory at Khalkhin Gol in 1939, before serving in Poland, the Winter War in Finland, and Operation Barbarossa, where heavy losses showed its age. Though steadily replaced by the T-34, the BT-7 remained in Soviet service until the end of the Second World War.
