History:

The A22 Infantry Tank, better known as the ‘Churchill’, was the primary British infantry tank used from 1942 through the end of World War II.
It was first deployed during the Dieppe Raid (Operation Jubilee) in 1942, where it performed poorly due to mechanical issues and poor terrain. However, it would redeem itself during the Second Battle of El Alamein and later in the North African campaign. Though its armour was sufficient against early German tanks such as late-model Panzer III and short-barrelled Panzer IV models, it would continue to struggle against more advanced German armour as the war progressed. Churchill tanks would see widespread service across multiple theatres, including Italy, Western Europe, Burma, India, and Eastern Europe. Its longevity and versatility allowed it to remain in limited service into the early Cold War period.
