History:
An icon of the United States Army during the Second World War, the M4 Sherman was a Medium tank designed in 1940 that saw service on all major fronts in the hands of nearly all Allied nations. It is one of the most produced tanks during WWII, with approximately 50,000 units across all variants.
The M4A3 Sherman was armed with the M3 75 mm gun and two .30 caliber Browning M1919 machine guns. The U.S. Army made many more upgrades and conversions to the versatile M4A3 platform, resulting in variants such as the M4A3(76)W, M4A3(105), M4A3E2 Jumbo, and M4A3 with HVSS.
Though the M4 Sherman was outgunned during the later stages of the war in Europe, the reliability, production quantity, and versatility of the Sherman design made this tank one of the most successful and iconic tank designs fielded during WWII.
