History:

As the Mark IV entered widespread service in 1917, a number were captured intact by German forces, particularly after the Battle of Cambrai. With Germany’s own tank production still limited to a few experimental A7Vs, captured British vehicles offered a practical alternative for immediate deployment. 

Although limited in number, the Beutepanzer Mark IVs provided Germany with valuable experience in operating armored vehicles and demonstrated the tactical potential of tanks on the modern battlefield.
