History:
The Nashorn has its roots traced back to the inception of the Panzerjäger: a vehicle mounting an effective anti-tank gun with limited traverse and protected with little armor. Development of the PaK 43 high velocity 8.8 cm anti-tank gun would begin in June of 1942. What resulted was one of the most effective anti-tank guns fielded by the German Army. Although powerful, it was also heavy, which fueled a need to mobilize the gun.
