History:
The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) was one of the most produced armored vehicles of the German Army during the Second World War. It had its humble beginnings during the 1940 German invasion of France, where its utility as an infantry support vehicle and its reliability contributed significantly to its early success.
The StuG III Ausf. B played a significant role in Operation Barbarossa, the 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union. At the time, it was one of the most well-protected vehicles in the German arsenal, proving highly effective against lighter Soviet tanks like the BT-7 and T-26.
The StuG III would go on to evolve into one of the most successful and versatile armored vehicles used by the German Army throughout the war.
